Welcome to the Princeton University Climbing Team website.
Founded in 2010, the climbing team strives to be an inclusive and supportive group of students teaching other students how to climb. Many of our members did not know how to climb before joining, so don’t worry if you’ve never climbed before! Learn more about the team here.
The first step to joining the team is to sign up for our email list-serv.
After that, you can start attending any of our four weekly practices at the campus Outdoor Action climbing wall, located in the football stadium. The schedule is in the right sidebar of this page.
The only pre-requisite for attending practice is that you are belay certified at the OA wall. If you don’t know what belaying is or need to learn, you can learn for free at a class taught by Outdoor Action Wall Staff. After learning how to belay, you must pass a belay test administered by Wall Staff at any of the daily free Open Hours sessions (schedule). Once you pass your test, you are welcome to come to any of our practices!
Joining the climbing team is completely free, and all gear (harnesses, climbing shoes, etc.) is generously provided by Outdoor Action! We have never charged membership dues and are proud to keep climbing as accessible as possible to anyone on campus. We also participate in competitions and go on outdoor trips.
Thanks for visiting our website, and we hope to see you at practice! Questions? Email us at annadn@princeton.edu. And be sure to follow us on Instagram!
